Muslim Population: 96% (Christian Population: less than 4%)
Islam is the UAE state religion. Foreign Christians may worship and witness freely among the expatriate community, but witnessing to citizens of UAE is forbidden. The most successful missionary groups have been medical missionary teams. Converts from Islam face persecution and sometimes death.

Prayers for persecuted Christians in United Arab Emirates

Taking the Gospel with them

November 26, 2008

A Muslim-background believer from Syria was threatened with death by his own family, and fled to the United Arab Emirates.  But as he and his wife shared their faith, they continued to receive threats, including the video of a beheading.

Praise God that, in a landmark case, this couple has been granted asylum in the United Kingdom.  Pray that their continued evangelistic work will bear much fruit. "And they shall dwell securely in it, and they shall build houses and plant vineyards."

Opportunity and opposition in Arab Peninsula

August 23, 2008

A local bishop is excited that the United Arab Emirates welcomes Christian schools where most students are Muslims.  But another bishop says Christians in the Arab Peninsula live in a "cage," with little freedom to worship or share their faith.

Pray that the Muslim rulers of these countries will discover true liberty, found in Christ alone. "My kingdom is not of this world."
