Relief and Development

In the developing world, six out of every ten people are malnourished. Multitudes struggle for basic survival amidst warfare, famine, sickness, and widespread catastrophe.

Many of these tragedies occur within the Islamic context, where Christians are often harshly persecuted for their faith, and Muslims live and die never hearing the Gospel.  The reality of their desperate need, and the compelling love of Jesus Christ, form the driving force behind the Relief and Development Fund.  We are constantly looking for new opportunities to practically demonstrate the Gospel by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of Christians and Muslims who are destitute, diseased, displaced, despairing.

To the starving Christians in Sudan, we helped to send airplanes loaded with food, blankets, equipment, and Bibles.  We supported a National Church leader in Ghana who set up camps for starving, traumatized Muslim refugees.  We sent funds to Indonesia to rescue displaced Christian families from the brutal machetes of Muslim jihad warriors.  After a major earthquake, we supported Christians in Turkey who rescued trapped Muslims, provided food and shelter, conducted Bible studies, and helped rebuild shattered lives.

The Relief and Development Fund provides a holistic witness, the kind of ministry Jesus engaged in, caring for the sickness and starvation of both body and spirit.  These vital ministries demonstrate the worth of the Gospel to those who have never heard, and illustrate the unity of the Church as one part of the Body of Christ cares for another.  These ministries fill empty stomachs, heal painful diseases, plant crops, purify water, build homes -- and proclaim the best news the world has ever heard.

And these ministries can only continue as we share the blessings God has given us.  The Relief and Development Fund is your connection to the starving child, the crying widow, the dying patient, the traumatized refugee.  Even a small donation can transform a life forever.

Will you make the Relief and Development Fund a part of your giving?  Will you set aside a few dollars to demonstrate the love of Jesus to a hurting world?

Give now to provide Relief and Development.

In the Nuba Mountains of Sudan, destitute Christians met to worship under the open sky, fearfully scanning the horizon for enemy aircraft. Food was scarce among their dying families, yet harvest time was approaching. As the crops ripened, anticipation mounted—until the Muslim soldiers arrived. Villagers watched as their ripening fields, their last means of survival, the fragments of their shattered dreams, burnt to ashes.

Out of the ashes and despair of Sudan, hundreds of homeless, parentless children now have hope and are attending school — they are sleeping on a real bed, eating nourishing food, learning about Jesus and forgetting the past horrors.
Muslim jihad warriors flooded the Christian islands of Indonesia, burning villages to the ground, brandishing machetes, hacking families to pieces. Christians fled by the multitudes into the jungle, exposed to the elements, without food or medicine.

An earthquake shattered northern Pakistan. Thousands were killed. Whole villages were obliterated. Precipitous roads fell to the valley floor below. And as survivors attempted to put their shattered lives back together, the frigid Himalayan winter swept in.

All of these tragedies occurred within the Islamic context, where Christians are often harshly persecuted for their faith, and Muslims live and die never hearing the Gospel. The reality of their desperate spiritual need for a Savior is the driving force behind the Relief and Development Fund. We are constantly looking for new opportunities to practically demonstrate the Gospel by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of Christians and Muslims who are destitute, diseased, displaced, and despairing.
