Bangladesh: Camp School

In a Bangladesh village, an intelligent Christian with a master’s degree walks barefoot to work across a path of raised dirt and old lily pads. Rather than taking a job where she could have received money and prestige, she chooses to be the camp school’s headmaster. She lives in a world where back-breaking work is the norm and Islam poses a deadly threat to Christian converts, but the joy on her face is radiant.

This school provides a quality education for approximately 170 refugee children and 650 or more village children of Bangladesh. Benches and blackboards comprise 90 percent of school supplies, but the educational standard is high--the students' work on equations would puzzle many college graduates.

Funds given to this project will be used to educate the students and help with the completion of an enlarged, new and improved school building.
