Prayers for persecuted Christians in Philippines
Faithfulness that Still Speaks
MacArthur Arbado was a man firm in his faith. He had refused pressure to convert to Islam and persisted in sharing the gospel. One day this church elder was murdered by Muslims on his way back to his farm.
This man, a friend of local Muslims in a Muslim-dominant area of the Philippines, leaves behind a testimony of faithfulness to Christ. How many lives could his testimony impact, even after his death?
Church Elder Martyred
In the PHILIPPINES a church elder was shot and decapitated by a suspected group of Muslims. He had developed friendships with local Muslims. When they would try to convert him, he would not waver in his faith and would instead share the gospel.
Pray for comfort for his widow and 13 children. “You have said, ‘Seek My face.’ My hearts says to You, ‘Your face, LORD, I do seek.’”
Christian Leaders Shot
Two Christian leaders were shot to death in the PHILIPPINES in September. One had recently shared the gospel with Muslim parents at a school. Other believers in the region have been threatened.
Pray for strength for those in danger and comfort for those who mourn. “...He has caused us to be born again...to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.”
Christian Man Shot
In the PHILIPPINES this summer a Christian taxi driver was lured by Muslims to a remote area where he was tortured, shot, and strangled. They also stole his motorbike, which was his family’s means of income.
Ask God to be with them as they grieve and to provide for their needs. “...an inheritance... kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
Provision for Martyr’s Family
UPDATE: Praise God for providing for a martyr’s family in the PHILIPPINES! After Muslims killed the husband, his widow had to mortgage their property. Now their farm land has been redeemed.
Pray for a bountiful harvest! “In all circumstances take up the shield of faith…”
Muslims Bomb Church
On Christmas morning in the PHILIPPINES, suspected Muslim terrorists exploded a bomb at a church. Eleven people were wounded and the roof was blown out.
Pray that the injured will recover and that the congregation will be able to rebuild. “...they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.”
Believer Tortured and Strangled
Several months ago in the PHILIPPINES, a believer was captured by Muslims. When he refused to convert to Islam , they tortured him and strangled him to death.
Pray that God will comfort and provide for his wife and children. “He...has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David.”
Christians Beheaded
In the PHILIPPINES, Islamic terrorists beheaded three Christian men who were going about their work. Although Muslims make up only a small percentage of the country, Islamist terror groups are very active.Pray that God will comfort the families of those who have died and that He will protect the Christians. “Our God is a God of salvation, and to GOD, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.”
Muslim rebels torch Christians' homes
Muslim rebels in the Philippines attacked a village and torched 30 Christian homes. Praise God that no one was injured. Pray that believers will show forth the Spirit of Christ. "Making peace by the blood of his cross."
Sharia Law Expands
Muslim lawmakers in the PHILIPPINES are pushing for the creation of more Sharia courts. With terrorist groups already kidnapping Christians and forcing them off their land, this bodes ill for the safety of the Christian population.
Pray that this revolution of the legal system will not hurt them further. "For He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source."
