Church Elder Martyred

February 12, 2012

In the PHILIPPINES a church elder was shot and decapitated by a suspected group of Muslims. He had developed friendships with local Muslims. When they would try to convert him, he would not waver in his faith and would instead share the gospel.

Pray for comfort for his widow and 13 children. “You have said, ‘Seek My face.’ My hearts says to You, ‘Your face, LORD, I do seek.’”

LEARN MORE: Faithfulness that Still Speaks

MacArthur Arbado was a man firm in his faith. He had refused pressure to convert to Islam and persisted in sharing the gospel. One day this church elder was murdered by Muslims on his way back to his farm.

This man, a friend of local Muslims in a Muslim-dominant area, leaves behind a testimony of faithfulness to Christ. How many lives could his testimony impact, even after his death?

"By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through faith, though he died, he still speaks.” –Hebrews 11:4
