Christians Accused

February 8, 2012

Muslim leaders in MALAYSIA recently accused Malaysian Christians of trying to “Christianize” the country. Converting Muslims to Christianity is against the law.

Pray that believers in Malaysia will persevere in their witness to the gospel. “Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He instructs sinners in the way.”

LEARN MORE: High Price for Obedience

In Malaysia, following Christ can be costly. The nation claims to offer its inhabitants religious freedom, but defines ethnic Malays as Muslims. Muslims are forbidden from converting out of Islam, and non-Muslims are forbidden from sharing their faith with Muslims. The reverse, however, is permitted: Muslims may proselytize non-Muslims, and non-Muslims are allowed to convert to Islam.

In this context, the accusation that Christians in Malaysia are trying to “Christianize” the country is more than just words. It is intimidation that draws on the country’s legal system. Fines for proselytism can be severe.

Please pray for boldness for the Christians in Malaysia.

“But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’” –Acts 5:29
