Underground Church Grows
The underground church in AFGHANISTAN grows despite persecution. Youth, and even now the country’s elite, are turning to Christ.
Ask God to give them strength to face persecution for His sake. “More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

The church in Afghanistan has faced severe persecution, but continues to grow. There have been no public churches in the country since March 2010, when the last one was destroyed. That was the same month that Muslims became outraged over clips an Afghan TV station aired of Christian converts being baptized and worshiping. (You may recall that a government official called for the public execution of the believers.) Many of the Christians who subsequently attempted to flee the country have faced continued obstacles.
Recently Mohabat News reported an exciting story about the spread of the church in Afghanistan. The story was later echoed by Assist News and Voice of the Martyrs Canada. House churches are growing. According to an Afghan official, there are more than 10 secret house churches operating in Afghanistan. Christianity continues to spread among Afghan youth, and now also through other demographics of society. Reportedly even members of the country’s elite and government are turning to Christ!
“But now says the LORD, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be turned, and the flame shall not consume you.” –Isaiah 43:1-2
