Middle East: Food Bags and Bibles

Our Middle Eastern partner assists Christian refugees and victims of violence in Iraq as well as reaching out to the Muslim poor and suffering. The tools of their outreach are food bags and Bibles. Door-to-door teams meet the people, initiate relationships, and distribute food bags. Follow-up teams go back to the same homes, share the Gospel, and distribute Bibles.

In one particular visit, a woman had suffered a miscarriage. As our Partners prayed with the sorrowing wife and husband they were able to offer Scriptural counsel and encourage the couple to place their full trust in the God Who has proclaimed, “Come to Me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke.”

In another home they found an open receptivity to the message of the Cross. On a visit the next day they discovered the Muslim family engaged in a serious search of Scripture, captivated by the person of Christ!

Meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the people is effective ministry. Supplies are desperately needed. $40 purchases a food bag that feeds a family of 4 for approximately 2 to 3 weeks. The larger $60 food bag can feed a family of 4 for approximately one month. $6 will purchase an Arabic Bible.

The bags contain 2 cans of mushrooms, chick-peas, broad beans, white beans, lentils, 2 bottles of cooking oil, 2 bags of macaroni, 2 packs of spaghetti, 2 boxes of cheese, 2 boxes of cooking cheese, cream, dates, molasses, thick sesame oil sauce, 1 kilo of rice, 2 tins of tuna, beef and chicken lunch meat, tea, and powdered milk.
