Middle East: Adult Literacy

Vast numbers of people throughout Islamic countries cannot read or write.  These illiterate outcasts and poor have few opportunities in life and are easy targets for mistreatment.  Who is going to draw them up out of their suffering?  Christians have an amazing opportunity. 

Can you imagine the doors for friendship, love, and the Gospel that are opened when Christians offer the skills of reading and writing to Muslims?  Can you imagine the joy of believers who are able to read God’s Word for the first time?  Smyrna has the privilege to provide this wonderful opportunity in the Middle East. 

When our ministry partners use the Bible to teach reading, their students come back with questions about the text.  They are grateful to the Christians who gave them an opportunity that they could receive nowhere else.  Relationships and the written Word are reaching many for Christ, and lives are being changed for eternity.
