Status of the Persecuted Church in France
January 15, 2010
Muslim Population: 5-10% (Christian Population: 85-90%)
Though historically a Christian country, active Christianity has been waning in the country for decades. Now, small evangelical churches run the risk of being labeled as cults or sects and being declared illegal. There are at least 4 million Muslims in France, and they are multiplying at 4 times the rate of the Christian population. Many of the Muslim youth harbor dreams of establishing a new Muslim nation to replace the Judeo-Christian roots of the now-secular country. Over the past 30 years, while churches have emptied, over 3,000 mosques have been built. More and more Muslim parents are sending their children to traditional Muslim schools, and women are fighting for the right to wear the veils of Islam in all venues. Many of the suburbs of Paris have become Muslim enclaves and “no-go zones” for non-Muslims, including the Parisian police.

Prayers for persecuted Christians in France

Secret believers

June 28, 2008

A growing number of Muslims in France have converted to Christianity. Many remain secret believers, however, lest they be rejected by friends and family.

Pray for new believers. Pray also for French men and women who are attracted to Islam, that they will find the one true God revealed in His Son Jesus Christ. "I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world."

Bibles in France reaching North Africa

January 13, 2009

Many North African countries are closed to the Gospel, but Christians have discovered opportunities to give New Testaments to North African Muslims who find work in France.

Pray that these Scriptures will bear much fruit as they find their way to spiritually hungry Muslims in both  France and North Africa. "So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet."

Marseilles Muslims plan huge mosque

April 21, 2009

Muslims in Marseilles, France, plan to construct an immense mosque with financing from Islamic countries.

Pray that Christians will respond, not defensively, but in the power and love of the Lord Jesus Christ.  "And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The LORD Is There."
