Founder's Statement

Prayer will always be the first priority, the highest purpose, the moving force, and the energizer of this ministry.

We clearly recognize the essential nature of sound administration—budgets—boards—plans—projects—missions—etc. These are not, however, the driving force behind Smyrna.

We are about people, children of the King enduring oppression, injustice, agonizing pain, loss, even death, across the far-flung reaches of the Islamic world.

We are about driving complacency out of the Church in America; Christians must be jolted, jarred, and broken over their spiritual family members suffering in the inferno of persecution.

We are about storming the gates of heaven and crying out to God with the intensity of Jacob, “I will not let Thee go except Thou bless me!”

In the early days of the Ministry, I had been speaking at a Bible camp in Montana, set high in the Rocky Mountains. Early one morning I walked out on a quiet mountain side, and sat facing the sunrise. As I began praying and reading Scripture, the Lord confirmed to my heart the beauty and power of unceasing, unabated, undaunted prayer. That is the purpose, moving force, and energizer of Smyrna Ministries International—that is our calling.
