Djibouti

Djibouti’s location at the mouth of the Red Sea and its relative calm due to the French military presence make Djibouti a key base from which missionary efforts can be launched. The situation is somewhat precarious because neighboring Somalia is mostly controlled by a very aggressive Muslim terrorist group, Al-Shabaab, with announced intentions to conquer both Djibouti and Ethiopia. Several fanatical Muslim organizations persecute the small Christian community in Djibouti despite government guarantees of religious freedom. Christians must meet discreetly for fear of terrorism. The church in Djibouti is isolated and needs solid doctrinal training.
