Unwavering Despite Persecution

June 10, 2012

A Muslim man in East Africa found his grandson reading a book one day. When he asked the boy about it, the boy replied that it was his father’s Bible. The grandfather was furious. He called his son an “infidel” and said, “When you die, I’m not coming to your funeral. You are no longer my son. You are dead to me.” He then kidnapped his grandchildren.

The children’s Christian father has not seen them since then. He misses them and prays that they will seek after Jesus. He says, “I know what is true, and once you know what is true, you can’t go back. [My wife and I] have chosen to walk the road of Jesus, and we’re not going back even if our family says we must. Even though they’ve taken my children away, and even though they’ve said I’m dead to them, I’m still telling other people about Jesus. I’m still giving Bibles to those who want to read.”

Please pray for this family.

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you…. Therefore let those who suffering according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.” –1 Peter 4:12, 19
