Basic Life Necessities

Few of us have struggled for basic survival.  We may know financial limitations, debt, a tight budget, self-denial.  But have we ever questioned whether we could live out the week?  Have we ever watched our children die of starvation?  Have we ever spent a day under the blazing sun or a night in the harsh winter cold because we had no home to go to, no bed to sleep in?

For most of us, the fundamental necessities of life have never been questioned.  Yet for the suppressed Christian minority scattered throughout the Islamic World, basic survival can become their greatest struggle.  A convert from Islam may be turned out of the house, denied employment, rejected by family.  Where will his next meal come from?

One of the most vibrant, growing churches in the world lives in what was, just a few years ago, the killing fields of southern Sudan.  Bombings, massacres, slavery, and systematic starvation confronted them.  Humanitarian aid was routinely denied them.  Although a tenuous peace has been established, many lives still depend on the compassion and courage of Christians from around the world.

Families in northern Nigeria may live one day in their modest home -- and the next day be running for their lives, wounded, with no medicine, food, or shelter.  Over the past few years Muslim mobs have repeatedly attacked believers, torched church buildings, and destroyed Christian-owned homes and businesses.  Survivors are left displaced and destitute.

The Basic Life Necessities Fund sustains the lives of Christians like these.  Gifts to this Project are quickly transformed into food, potable water, medicine, clothing, and basic equipment that saves precious Christians throughout the Islamic World from untimely death.  Your generosity brings hope to brothers and sisters living on the brink of extinction.
