Comoros Islands

Status the Persecuted Church in the Comoros Islands
January 15, 2010
Muslim Population: 98% (Christian Population: 2%)
Although the nominal Christian population is 2%, there are fewer than 200 evangelical Christians in the entire country. There are three churches, but only foreigners are permitted to attend them. Comoran people are not allowed to meet for any kind of Christian service, and they are forbidden to witness in public. If a citizen is discovered to have any Christian literature, he can be severely fined and imprisoned. Believers are forced to attend Muslim prayer services under threat of brutal beatings and/or dismissal from their jobs.

Prayers for persecuted Christians in Comoros Islands

Prayer meeting crashed in Comoros

February 9, 2009

Police burst into a prayer meeting in the COMOROS ISLANDS.  After they ransacked the building and discovered Bibles, they arrested all those present.  The missionary who led the group was expelled from the country; others were detained for three months.

Pray that they will stand firm in the faith, and that God will add many more to their number. "When I pour out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord GOD."

Comoros convert attacked by family

February 25, 2009

A formerly Muslim student who received Christ in the Comoros Islands was assaulted by his own family.  Neighbors rescued him, and he rented a house elsewhere while his wounds healed.  But when Muslims discovered his location, they razed the rental house.  He does not dare report the incident to police.

O Lord, guard and guide your servant! “To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ.”

Strength for the imprisoned

September 1, 2007

Pray that God will strengthen those imprisoned for their faith in the Comoros Islands to continue to proclaim the word of the truth of the Gospel. "For they have gone out for the sake of the name."
